Trait vulnerability to invasive plant's pathogen attack
"Vulnerability of Non-Native Invasive Plants to Novel Pathogen Attack: Do Plant Traits Matter?"
Biological Invasions, Fahey, Koyama & Antunes (2022)
This scientific review explores how invasive plant species may become vulnerable to pathogens in their new environments over time. The illustration in Figure 1 provides a conceptual framework depicting the long-term dynamics of plant invasions, showing how invasive plants can accumulate novel pathogens as they spread, and how native pathogens can adapt to exploit them as hosts. The diagram was created to help visualize the relationship between plant traits, pathogen resistance and tolerance, and the trajectory of biological invasions over time.
